Performance Course
This summer we are launching a new project: a performance course. This course will take place in June and July 2025. This course is your chance to practice and perform your samba. We want to show the beauty of samba and invite you to join us in our mission. In this course you will join a student showteam, practice a choreography and perform in front of a live audience.
What you’ll get

A course of samba focussing on performance techniques, such as energy, expression and dancing on heels. You will train with Julia Solis, who is an experienced Passista and performer.

A choreography made by George Louzada, who is a celebrated director of Passistas in Rio de Janeiro and has won numerous awards for his work. The course will include a special masterclass with George and you will have one of the trainings with him in person.

The chance to perform in front of a live audience in The Hague at the Amare dance theatre, on one of the social dance evenings hosted by DanceHague in collaboration with Open Amare. The event is openly accessible so you can invite your friends and family to watch you perform.

Your very own costume of a samba dress which is hand-made in Rio de Janeiro. The style for this costume is “roupa de pinta” and will be designed by an atelier in Rio to look beautiful on every body type.

Your very own samba heels made in Rio de Janeiro. Working closely with the artisans who make the shoes for the dancers in Rio, the shoes can be customized to suit your needs.

While we will cover some more advanced techniques, you are absolutely welcome to join as a beginner. However, since the course is focussed on performance, we do recommend joining our other samba classes for practicing your samba.

The exact cost of the course is still awaiting confirmation. The reason is that this is dependant on the cost of the costume and shoes which are included in the course. The price of the material depends on how many people register their interest. We will let you know as soon as we have the number confirmed.
For payment, there are various methods of payment available, such as credit card, paypal and bank transfer. More details on payment will follow. It is very important to us that we keep dance accessible to all. Payment plans are available. If you are concerned about cost of the course, we invite you to talk to us so that we can work out a solution. -
Samba is danced by both men and women. There are male and female styles of samba. In Rio, a group of Passistas usually contains men and women. Men are very welcome and encouraged to join the course. Of course we will tailor their costume to a masculine style and include male samba shoes instead of heels.

Since the course takes place over the holiday period, we are aware that it is possible that you might miss a training. That is alright, you can still perform in the course and join the end performance.

Whatever it is, please talk to us! Anything from nervousness, to insecurity about your body type, to childcare, to shoe adjustments… Samba is for everyone and we can try to work out solutions.
